Red Pens are Friends

July 24, 2024This is my Dad, a retired middle school teacher. Notice the red pen behind his ear. He inspired my business name, Red Pen Resources.
Dad wore a red pen behind his ear for as long as I can remember. But this is only one of the tools in his teaching toolbox. He also used kindness, wisdom, and an innate desire to help others do their best work. Here is how I unpack his toolbox to provide creative communication solutions for nonprofit organizations:
✍ The Red Pen—I always offer positive feedback first, followed by original ideas, suggested edits, and constructive comments to get your stories noticed. Whether writing, editing, proofreading, or creating new content, I approach the work with a critical eye without being a critic.
💗 Kindness—I am deeply committed to your project, always responsive to your questions, respectful of your time, and aware of your deadlines. I also bring a smile and good snacks to our meetings. (Dad never said no to a Boston Kreme doughnut!)
🦉 Wisdom—I bring my professional experience, communication skills, platform knowledge (social media, email marketing, etc.), and passion for storytelling to help you raise money, increase awareness, build engaged communities, and achieve your goals.
💙 A Desire to Help Others—Giving back to the community is an inherent part of my work ethic and personal beliefs. It would be an honor to help your organization bring about positive change by sharing your incredible work with others.
Thanks, Dad (and Mom!), for passing down the philosophy behind the red pen. If you want to learn more about Red Pen Resources, message me on LinkedIn or at [email protected].
